I think Duskblade would be an appropriate name, at least as good as hexblade.
How do people feel about any of the other suggestions? Blackguard in particular is very iconic to me but I wonder if it wouldn't be more infernal than shadow.
Any ideas?
I was thinking of making class feature powers that triggered with the marked (or cursed) target makes an attack that isn't the Duskblade that attack the different NADs. One for Fortitude, Reflex, and Will. Thoughts?
Why? Why give a separate punishment for each kind of triggering attack? (And don't forget about AC). I'll try to reserve judgment until I see a model (maybe I'll be impressed), but currently it just feels wrong. I mean, we're still going with daily powers that can augment the mark punishment, right? Even if it's only the basic punishment and not the augmented form that changes, it still feels like a little much. Maybe I just don't understand why you're thinking of doing that. Enlighten me?
I actually prefer having the basic punishment be a simple, no-action-to-trigger thing like the paladin. That way you could have the dailies making the punishment worse, not just different - add to the punishment. Oh, here's an idea: when a cursed opponent ignores your mark, it provokes an Attack of Opportunity. That feels a lot like the fighter's mark, only anyone can make the attack (should probably limit it to attack though). Basically, the curse strikes them, spoiling a defense. Other possibilities are combat advantage, defense penalties, or vulnerability to damage - all could reflect the curse foiling their defenses.
There was no real reason behind my suggestion; it was just an idea I'd throw out to get some responses.
But you are right, the basic ignoring the mark repercussion should be as simple as it can get so we have a lot to play with when it comes to daily power curse effects.
I'm digging either the paladin style damage or the vulnerability. Simple enough, yet still punishment…
This just now hit me… how does having the moxie to trade away your own fate not make you Cha-primary? And it certainly doesn't seem like something an intelligent person would do, either.
So what I'd like to know is, is this setup your final decision for it, and if so, is there a fluffy explanation? If not, would you be interested in brainstorming a bit of fluff that might produce suitable scores? ^_^;;
Disclaimer: I would like to apologize right now if the above sounds a bit too pushy.
Ha, I haven't looked over here much, but yeah, I kind of agree. Strength primary, at the very least, seems strange to me. A secondary, perhaps. Maybe Charisma primary, with one "Fortitude" stat (Str or Con) build option for a heavy-armored "dark knight" style build, and one "Reflex" stat (Dex or Int) build option for a light-armored "hexblade" style build?
*shrugs*
When I was trying to do it alone (nevermind how that turned out, I'm really not good at making classes wholecloth, it turns out), I had it Cha-primary, with a Str-secondary Striker-lite build favoring heavy armor and a two-handed weapon and an Int-secondary Controller-lite build who preferred to go sword-and-board.
Vitriolic and Scornful Duskblades, respectively. With plans in place for a Con-secondary "Lethargic" Duskblade and a Dex-secondary "Spiteful" Duskblade… that was before I fell in with the idea of "Shadow = surrender," really. :3
Is this another of Oskar's creations? I see no one has edited the page in almost a month. If so, should we keep this up here or delete it for the sake of not cluttering the wiki with abandoned works?
